Guidelines for Submitting Electronic Files

Proofs
-
Supply a composite laser proof (actual size, if possible) of the FINAL file provided for output.
-
For color jobs, in addition to a composite proof, also supply separated laser proofs of each color and indicate color identification on each sheet created by the application.
Fonts
-
Please provide True Type fonts, and/or both the Screen (Bitmap) and Printer (Postscript) elements of each font used. If this is not possible, convert your type into paths. In Freehand, this command is "Convert to Paths," in Adobe Illustrator use "Create Outlines" and in Corel Draw it is "Covert to Curves."
-
When applying a "Style" to type, do not use the "effects" palette. Select the actual typestyle from the font menu. This will ensure that the font will output correctly on our imagesetters.
Software
-
Preferred page layout programs:
QuarkXpress and PageMaker.
-
Preferred graphics programs:
Photoshop, Illustrator and Freehand Artwork
Artwork
-
Submit only TIFF or EPS file formats regardless of platform.
-
Unacceptable file formats for imagesetter output: PICT, PAINT, RGB TIFF, RGB EPS, QuickTime, Single file CMYK EPS.
-
Most software packages allow you to import artwork (logos, graphics, etc.) created in other software packages. If you use the "Import" or "Place" command to bring images into your primary artwork file, please include the original document used to create the imported TIFF or EPS file.
-
Your imported graphics may contain fonts. If so, please provide these fonts as well.
-
Copy all graphics required for your file in the same folder or directory as the output file. Make sure the correct versions of all images are linked to their correct placements in the file.
-
Duotones and files with clipping paths must be supplied as EPS.
-
When colors touch, we may need to create traps. Your artwork needs to be prepared so that it is an editable format.
